Year 1

The year was 2006. Sophmore year at the ‘Gate. Drake Hall. You first met as dorm-mates, having little idea what the future would hold. Did she think he was cute? Did he see the potential for a lifemate? Whatever you remember today is clouded by time, bias and cheap beer. Regardless, this first meeting was a moment that changed the course of both of your histories.

New relationships. New worlds. Why not celebrate the first year of marriage, and your first meeting, with a new world wine? But not just any new world wine. The crown jewel, Napa Cabernet. The best Napa Cabs are silky and sexy, seductive and approachable. Even those with the stuffing to age tend to start declining around age 10, which is why they’re such a perfect choice to celebrate young love.

When first bottled, the 2006 Luna Cabernet Sauvignon North Fork was densely fruity, a cornucopia of cassis and blueberries laced with toasty wood. The palate was big and beefy, mouthfilling and dense. As it ages, it shows less fruit, tending towards more savory notes of anise, pepper and earth, becoming leaner and slightly lighter. But the structure remains, the acid, the tannins, and it’s still drinking very well, especially for a California Cabernet at age 10.
